Electrohydrodynamics' (EHD) microbubbles This video is about an inside observation of a nozzle during electrohydrodynamic inkjet printing process. An interesting phenomenon happens, which is an electrolytic reaction. This process, in turn, produces bunch of microbubbles as a side effect in a leaky dielectric liquid at the surface of metal wire tip. However, this condition only happens whenever the metal wire is supplied with specific polarity and voltage threshold. Watch the Video |

Ring formation in an evaporating colloidal droplet This video shows how a ring is formed at the rim of an evaporating colloidal droplet. The first part of the video (0′0″-2′44″) is taken by microscopy under a section view of a X100 objective lens. The colloidal solution is 1 um SiO2 particles solution (1% SiO2 solution: water = 1: 100, about 2X104 particles per microliter), settling on glass, the volume of the droplet is 0.5 uL.
